Turmeric's use as food and medicine, and in religious ceremonies dates back over 4,000 years to the Vedic culture of India. Also known as Indian saffron, turmeric is used in Ayurvedic and traditional medicine both internally and externally to combat a host of ills. For skin issues, turmeric with its active compound, curcumin, is a potent antiseptic especially useful against fungal infections. Curcumin is also a strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Useful against a range of skin issues from acne to eczema to psoriasis, it also actively helps to heal cuts and scrapes. To boost the skin healing properties of our Triple Turmeric Salve we've added an abundance of honey. Like turmeric, honey has a wide-range of skin-healing properties; soothing, humectant and antiseptic, honey is a natural ally to healthy skin. The essential oil blend we use in this salve adds to its many benefits; turmeric essential oil is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory while ginger essential oil helps to boost circulation and the healing that accompanies that boost.
Many ask us how best to use this product. Please do keep in mind that turmeric, which is what gives curry its orange hue, is highly saturated in color. Use it at night when you don't care about having a temporary golden stain on your skin and wear clothes that won't mind it either. While this salve is powerful on its own, it can certainly be combined with any of our other skin care products without producing any ill effects. Apply a small amount to the area that is affected and either cover it or let it breathe uncovered. Apply as frequently as you desire; the more that you massage it in, the more the color will dissipate.
For 3X the healing, we highly recommend this golden salve.
